at the end of the day i got talking in the hut to Denis and he basically told me that i was doing it all wrong. So with the help from him and one of the other blokes(sorry cant remember your name) they set about putting the correct leader on the line and hay presto i now have a proper leader on the line set up and hopefully it now should present the fly better and if i snap it should only lose a little line, old system was a leader loop and then tide fluorocarbon line onto that and fly on the end. Then he did a few small casts which showed me the line and leader line roll over in the cast, Which should present the fly better.
Thanks very much guys, most grateful, will defo be back to ask some more stupid questions. cheers

The posting from fishmatt is typical of what I hear & see all the time..You only have to ask lads & ladies (preferably ladies).. As I walk around the pool I don't see many people fly fishing, even when fish are rising freely. If I'm correct fishmatt I think you've caught most of the fish in the lake since the day you mention; & I bet you saw every one take & I know you were having fun. I think you'll soon get used to double tapers, it's the only way to fly fish.
